Plan your Trip to Egypt!!!!

Based on my Frequent Travels to Egypt, I have decided to Start this Blog to help those who wish to Travel to Egypt. This is aimed at telling you about the Sites what to Visit and what best to Avoid. Since I am an Indian myself and am aiming at promoting this for the fellow Indians, there may be instances where you feel that my Opinion is biased.
To begin with Indians would love travelling to Egypt! Why do I say this?? Egyptians are by nature very Hospitable people and very similar to us Indians. They love the Families just like we do and take care of the Young Travellers just like the Indians would. Secondly the Sites Egypt has to Offer are simply inspiring, seeing the Pyramids, a Visit to the Egyptian Museum(Here most of the Indians would like to go to the Mummies room) but believe me the rest of the Museum is also amazing, Cruising on the Nile and visiting the Temples and the best amongst all the Shopping. All this make it a perfect destination for us Indians. Our biggest apprehension as always is whether we would get Indian food or not?? Well this is not a problem any more as with more and more of Indians travelling to Egypt, Indian restaurants have come up every where. One simply needs to know where to go. Cairo offers multiple options for Indian food as does Luxor, Aswan is still a problem buy hey you are not travelling In India and it does make sense to experiment a little with the Cuisine which is very Similar to ours. Also on the Cruise ships that are operated by Sakkara Travel Group one can mostly request the chefs and end up getting a Dish or two of Indian food.
One of the Biggest challenges in Egypt is to ensure that the guides dont end up taking you to Shops every now and again, although having played the Tourist on a few occassions I did get a feel for the quality that was being offered v/s the quality in the local shops/market. Every where the guide took us the quality was far superior as compared to the local market, specially if you are looking at the buying Papyrus, one of our fellow travellers went to the market ended up buying an expensive piece from the local market only to realise that it was not Papyrus. So if you can Bargain well, go with the Guide to the selected shop and atleast you would be assured of the quality of what you have bought.
Also get used to lectures from Guides/ Egyptologists as they greatly enhance your experience of visiting Egypt. This was one area where I found fellow Indians lacking, we are not well prepared to begin with and then dont listen very well to the Guides, but believe me it is well worth it listening to these people as they help you unlock lots of mysteries that are associated with Mummies, Pharohs and Egypt.
Travelling to Hurgada and Sharm al Shaikh can also be an Experience specially if you like water Sports. I have had amazing experience going Snorkelling and Quad Running in Hurgada. Plus the night life is amazing. So if you are hard pressed for Travel Ideas and looking for a Holiday Destination then Egypt scores very High.
In my Next Post I shall Offer you a 6 Nights 7 Days Basic Itinerary which i think is an Ideal Getaway.
Till then

Vishal
